The LNT diary
What’s happening at Local Nepal Today these days? Here’s our diary notes to share the latest ups and downs!
01 Jun 2018: Starting up in 2013, we thought our magazine would go on uninterrupted. However…it’s been a long break at Local Nepal Today due to many technical difficulties in creating a new website, plus new babies in the family 🙂 BUT!! Now we are getting ready to launch a completely new website as well as posting articles and fresh videos for the first time in over a year!
20 May 2018: Our number 1 video on Youtube, Aama Bambo, just reached 15,000 views, counting 40 likes, and still climbing. No doubt, Nepali healing and shaman traditions still attract lots of interest not least from foreigners who seek alternatives to conventional medicine.
01 May 2018: Out-migration in search of labour and education continues, and over the last two-or-so decades the once strong extended family networks – so characteristic of Nepal – have weakened in many respects. Cousins are growing up in different parts of the world, instead of playing with each other at regular family gatherings; brothers-in-laws perhaps never get to know each other; and even brothers and sisters only meet on Messenger. It’s reality for steadily more families. It’s changing local Nepal too, and it’s decided: this year we’ll make it an LNT topic too!
20 Apr 2018: Our Crash Course on Local Politics in Nepal now urgently needs revision after the ongoing reforms of the formal set up of sub-central government. The informal system, on the other hand, which we describe in the crash course, have likely not changed much. But revising the document is on the to-do-list. Message comes out once it’s done!
18 Apr 2018 We have found a WordPress theme that works! This looks promising after two failed attempts and much time wasted. Design has started today and with a nice kick-off – and as part of the new website we’ll keep an LNT diary which is hereby started! Hope to have a new website up and running soon!
